Hey all, Used the key instead of the fob tonight to unlock and open car, and the alarm went off! The alarm that goes off when you use the key will deactivate when you put the key in the ignition and turn it because the key has an RF chip, which is read by the car when the key is put in the ignition (the range on that is very very short) and confirms that the key is legitimate and thus deactivates the alarm. if the alarm goes on again use your key by unlocking the lock to disarm your alarm. The seller assures me that it is and will not do that if I get remote keyless entry installed.
